How It Works

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), non-exempt employees must receive overtime pay at 1.5 times their regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Some states and employers also provide double-time (2x) pay for excessive hours or holiday work. The overtime premium is the extra amount earned above what those hours would pay at the base rate.
